However, it’d be great for more people to know about it and follow it so it becomes popular and who knows, maybe have an anime. And the shuuen fandom has not many people active. Right now this project is discontinued/ on hiatus, this established by the producer (songs-wise only, because the manga is finished). Also “week of demise” ended recently (on july 11th) so there are new fanarts going around. But I think it’s fun to understand it or give a meaning to it on your own while or after you read and listen to it. There’s more than what I said before related to the fox, character’s names and the way the manga is written and divided. It’s easy to tell that every part of the story was well thought. The songs are really cool, and how they add more to some characters depth is interesting. The characters design, both artistically and personality wise is very complete. Personally Shuuen is very close to my heart and love it very much. (If you don’t like vocaloid but still like music in japanese, there are covers too if you’d like to hear the songs!!) The other songs have IA alone or with all the others/most of them. And the main 4 have IA and another vocaloid each (Miku, Rin, Gumi and Mayu). There are 4 songs that are particularly related to each character of the occult club and their respective urban legend, and what happens to them while they try to complete Kokkuri-san’s demands. And after Mundane everyday (which is equivalente for the song Mundane heroes), you can listen to the other 3 songs left as you like! Though “Gentle Ghost Story” is about a film club’s kid so you can save that for last since it’s unrelated to the main plot. It’s not necessary to listen to them in a particular order to understand well, but if you want them to go along the manga you can use the chapter’s names as a guide to have a better insight of the characters and story. They also have cool and dynamic music videos that makes them even better. These 7/8 songs especially are the ones that are dedicated to any main character or because it tells what happened to them when de bookmark appeared. Now the songs! 7/8 of them are essentially related to the main story (occult club), but shuuen as a project has a lot more. And what happened before the occult club. I won’t say much about it, but their arc goes about how the 5 of them decide to make a movie about urban legends including the bookmark of demise. Because of this the story is constantly changing its point of view, so you can see everything that happens and understand better.Įach character has different motivations to “clear the game” or find the fox, and the stories are sometimes related/tangled with another character(s).Īlso, before the occult club existed the film club! And in the manga you get to know more about them too and a bit of the book of demise’s story. And each urban legend is associated to a character. From 1 to 4 they have the name of an urban legend. The manga is divided of series of 4 chapters. However, this way of “clearing the game” it’s very difficult because knowing one of them betrayed you just causes mistrust in the group and everyone gets paranoid. The game starts because there’s a traitor between the people who are playing the game, so if any of them is able to kill the fox the game can stop. The only way to pass the test is following the instructions or killing “the traitor/fox”. Once you do, each week one of the people who participated will receive a letter with instructions that must be followed. It’s a rumour about this book and a bookmark that appear once you summon it through a ritual (Kokkuri-san). He also knows about an urban legend of something that happens in their school. So he sometimes creates rumors that have a tint of something paranormal on them. One of them though, A-ya, really likes rumors and urban legends. Not all of them are there because they like the occult per se but they still enjoy being there and sharing stories. The plot is about 4 kids that are part of the occult club in their school. In the case of Shuuen, it has songs, novels and manga. And some of them have been turned into anime (Kagerou project/Mekakucity Actors and Mikagura Gakuen for example). Vocaloid projects are usually a series of songs that are correlated. Shuuen no Shiori, or Book of Demise is a vocaloid project made by 150-P.
